Dental Bridges in Cardiff

An efficient and effective option to replace one or more missing teeth, dental bridges are dental implants using a pontic (fake tooth) that is bonded to adjacent teeth for a seamless result that delivers fantastic aesthetic results. A permanent solution, bridges fitted during a procedure is done so by placing the implant to the side of the gap of a natural tooth or teeth to bridge the gap and replace missing teeth. Produced with either porcelain or ceramic materials there are two leading options to choose from including traditional dental bridges and maryland bridges which both have their own benefits.

Implant-supported bridges help to restore your natural teeth’s overall structure to reform your smile and are a procedure carried out by our specialist team at The Whites Dental Centre who are dedicated to helping you. As well as replacing a single tooth or multiple teeth, bridge or resin-bonded bridge types can be a permanent way to secure a tooth and protect your mouth from gum disease. As with any dental procedure, it’s important to continue with good oral hygiene and practices to prevent any further issues in the future. Highly experienced in this area of dentistry, we deliver outstanding results when you need it most.

What are Bridges?

A restorative option to place a dental implant within abutment teeth or an abutment tooth, bridges include multiple advantages to blend in perfectly with teeth on either side. Providing restoration functions they allow you to chew and speak normally and reduce the potential of the remaining teeth becoming unaligned in the future whilst presenting a gleaming new smile. Once in place they offer stability and comfort as they’re permanently fixed and require the same amount of maintenance as your usual oral health routine, whilst offering a non-surgical choice of action to replace front teeth with bridges. Thanks to their restorative nature they reduce the possibility of faces sagging or changing over time if a missing tooth wasn’t seen to. Types of Bridges

At The Whites Dental Centre we provide two types of dental bridge procedures that are dedicated to your needs:

Traditional Dental Bridges – A common choice for those searching for a replacement tooth, traditional dental bridges feature one or more poetics (fake teeth) which are held in place on either side with dental crowns.

Maryland Bridges – A type of bridge also referred to as a sticky bridge, these are attached to the back of the adjacent teeth reducing the need for drilling. Therefore making it a more conservative dental procedure.

Dental Bridges Procedure

Unlike dental crowns which are placed around an existing tooth, dental bridges take a different process due to the nature of the procedure. Starting with an initial examination during your first visit, the dentist will look at the gap and any supporting tissues to assess the situation. This can involve x-rays or scans before preparing the abutment teeth and gathering an impression or mould of your teeth to ensure that it is consistent throughout. Whilst the permanent fixture is being produced in a dedicated dental laboratory, a temporary bridge may be fitted before the new bridge is attached using dental cement or adhesive. Finally, checks will be carried out to ensure that the bridge is comfortable, has the correct bite alignment and fits properly. At this stage of the procedure, it’s important to provide honest feedback so that you can leave the centre satisfied and content with the results and outcomes.
